This department is considered as one of the oldest political science department in Iran, which is around 60 years old and its faculty members have been prominent figures in political science and international relations.

The science of politics in its modern history has gradually expanded and has included many branches and is associated with many sciences. The diversity in this field is such that it can meet the different and diverse tastes of the enthusiasts of this field.

At the graduate level, students can continue their studies in four majors: political science and thought, international relations, regional studies (in the two minor majors of the Middle East and Eurasia), and Islamic political thought. The Doctoral program of this college also includes the fields of political science (with a focus on political thought and political sociology) and international relations. Undergraduate course in political science The aim of the BSc in Political Science program is to familiarize students with a wide range of issues related to power and government. In this program, students are introduced to various political concepts, ideas and theories. In addition, the undergraduate program in political science is very diverse and covers various fields such as political thought, political economy, political history, political psychology and political law. Graduates of this  field will gain a better understanding of politics and society and will be able to serve in public institutions and government organizations.
 

This field is designed for deep and wise acquaintance with different regions of the world and its purpose is to train specialists who can provide a detailed analysis of the conditions and characteristics of international regions and the rules governing the behavior of political actors in them. Graduates of this field can help promote foreign policy decisions by advising politicians and relevant ministries. At present, two orientations of Middle Eastern studies and Eurasian studies are presented in this section.

Today, due to the growth of Islamic movements and the conflicts amongst Islamic countries, this field has become very important and now has a bright horizon. Graduates of this field gain a deeper understanding of political ideas of Islam and the nature of Islamic movements and currents, and can help raise the level of awareness in society and help make better and more precise decisions in government and international bodies.

The general goal of this field at this stage is to become more and deeply acquainted with theories and knowledge related to politics to better understand the issues and problems of government and society. i.e., a wise and deep understanding of politics and power. Graduates of this field have a good understanding of the conditions of society and political and social developments and can work in political institutions and research institutes.

The PhD program in political science is designed to study politics in depth and to enhance the student's ability in developing  theories. Graduates of this course have a deeper and more critical understanding of theories and theorists and can follow and analyze social and political developments with a more critical perspective.

The PhD program in International Relations is designed with the aim of specialized and in-depth study of politics and power in the transnational and international arena. Graduates of this program have a better understanding of power developments in the regional and international arena and can contribute in forming informed and robust foreign policy decisions.
